Otelco offers Internet service for those affected by storm

After last month’s tornado outbreak, Otelco CEO Mike Weaver offered the town of Highland Lake free WiFi access for storm victims. Many residents in the Highland Lake area were without power and Internet access. ‘In case anyone was without Internet, we are proud this is available so people can pay bills or get in touch with FEMA,’ said Highland Lake Mayor Gail Bailey. Appalachian principal Mark Hitt also agreed to lend computers to the town hall and those are currently being set up and should be available soon, according to Highland Lake Police Chief Scott Kon. The WiFi is already up and running. To gain Internet access, visit the Highland Lake Town Hall located at the Highland Lake Anchor. – Nicole Singleton
