Operation Grateful Heart honors Rhonda Lindley

Members of Operation Grateful Heart, a veterans domestic support organization, thank Southeastern teacher Rhonda Lindley for her outstanding contributions to the Veterans Parade for the last three years. From left: Southeastern principal Michael Peoples, Operation Grateful Heart members Donnie Jackson and Dalton Wester, Rhonda Lindley, Operation Grateful Heart members Robert Venable, Glenda England, and Linda Ragsdale. Not shown but doing thankless duty as loving cup bearer in the foreground, is Kim Malone. Lindley’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Southeastern science students worked tirelessly each of the last three years to build three different floats for the veterans parade that were widely admired for their creative themes and excellent designs. The floats featured a screaming eagle, a huge torch of freedom, and the U.S. flag, flanked by the military service flags. Lindley is ready to begin work on this year’s float, which may feature a military rescue helicopter. – Ron Gholson
