Some have expressed concern that the article on Oneonta’s most recent council meeting omitted that body’s unanimous vote acknowledging the city’s upcoming school tax referendum. A former council member noted the school board had acted as prior councils had urged in seeking voter approval for additional revenue.
Present councilman Richard Phillips provided the following statement on the approved council resolution. “I consider the unanimous passage of a resolution recognizing the school board’s efforts at Building on the Legacy to be an important one. The city of Oneonta is very supportive of the Oneonta School System and we recognize their continuing efforts to better the academic excellence built over the past 65 years.
“The school system is a major component of this community. The resolution simply recognizes that fact and expresses the city’s continued support of OCS.”
