One man arrested in Industrial Park burglary

A 36-year-old Delaware man is in the Blount County Correctional Facility after he was arrested by the Oneonta Police Department for the burglary of a factory in the Oneonta Industrial Park.

The incident occurred earlier this month at Art Iron Works when police responded to a 911 call placed by an employee of another company in the park.

Police arrived and captured one of the two suspects after a short chase. The other suspect remains at large.

At the scene, authorities seized two magnetic drills, oxygen and acetylene torch equipment, and compressed gas equipment. The lock on the gate had been cut and there was damage to one side of the building where the suspects gained access.

The man is being held on charges of 3rd degree burglary, 1st degree theft of property, and 1st degree receiving stolen property. He was charged with receiving stolen property in connection to a vehicle that he was driving that had been reported stolen in Delaware.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Department assisted on the case and the investigation is continuing.

Bail has been set at $180,000.
