OBA appreciates support

On behalf of the Oneonta Business Association, I would like to thank everyone who helped make the Seventh Annual June Fling such a success. First of all, big thanks to all the people who came out and supported the event. Special thanks to Mayor Ross Norris and the City of Oneonta, and Chief James Chapman and the Oneonta Police Department for working together to provide a safe venue for this event. Kudos to Randy Beason with the Neely Arts Center who provided all sound equipment and audio engineers to ensure the performers’ flawless delivery of great musical entertainment.

We are thankful for the Backwoods Boys Bluegrass Band, the Ladies of Faith, the vocal students of Lynda Rhymes of Neely Arts, the Randy Beason and Jeremy Lesley Band, Jo Ann Bullard, and Vann and Teresa Burchfield who gave their time to entertain Fling patrons. All of you added an all-important ambiance to this year’s event. Thanks to Patti Moss Williams of PMW Communications who sponsored the Burchfields. We appreciate Joan Currier of Heritage Golf for providing a cart that enabled the Fling committee to swiftly respond to needs. We are grateful for the 80-plus booth vendors who exhibited a vast assortment of creatively crafted items, delicious food and treats, products, and services. We are also thankful to The Blount Countian, WCRL Radio, and Otelco’s Our Town TV for helping promote the event.

Charles Morton and the Crossroads Cruisers coordinated an awesome classic car show with a record 103 entries competing for $500 in cash prizes and door prizes. We received positive feedback about the petting zoo of T&N Acres, sponsored by HomeTown Bank, Evans Cemetery Services, Kim Lee State Farm Insurance, Klassy K-9 Sassy Kat, the Eureka Shop, and Trendy Consignments. Special thanks to Gibson & Box Body Shop for allowing use of their property for the petting zoo.

HomeTown Bank and Kim Lee State Farm Insurance were also event sponsors. We acknowledge and truly appreciate your faithful support.

Judging from the favorable comments we received throughout the day and since, the event was a great success. We even had some of our participants and patrons express the desire to help plan the Eighth Annual June Fling on Saturday, June 7, 2014. As a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, the OBA depends on the collective support of the business community, organizations, and local citizens to sustain a dynamic, vital, and diverse community through events like June Fling. Thank you ALL for your support.

We invite you to attend our next meeting on Tuesday, June 18, at 5:45 p.m. and hosted by Alpine Advertising. See June Fling photos and learn more about the OBA at oneontabusinessassociation.com.
