EXTENSION WELCOMES PUBLIC INPUT Blount County Extension office of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Syustem invites you to provide input into county and state programming efforts in 2012 and beyond. A grassroots meeting will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 23, in the Frank Green Building auditorium, 415 Fifth Avenue East, Oneonta. The program will get underway at 6 p.m. The information you will provide will help determine where and how Extension resources will be distributed and used in the future. SCHOOL BOARD BUDGET HEARINGS Blount County Board of Education will hold public hearings on the Proposed Budget for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2011, and ending Sept. 30, 2012 on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at 1 p.m. These hearings will be held in the Boardroom of the Blount County Courthouse Annex. Copies of the Proposed Annual Budget are available in the board office.

REMLAP BOOK DONATED Sherry Diana Crouch of Remlap has donated the book Memories and Portraits from Remlap to the Blount County Memorial Museum. For additional information phone 625-6905 any Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

GOAT AND SHEEP WORKSHOP AND FARM VISIT will be Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Blount County Cooperative Extension Office in the Frank J. Green Building, Fifth Avenue East, Oneonta. The workshop will address forages and value-added products and a farm visit that will include a pasture walk and demonstration of dairy equipment. The event is free and preregistration is encouraged.
