MUSEUM STILL NEEDS MINERS’ STORIES Extended time is given for stories from Champion and Tait’s Gap miners or their families for the Archive History Book of Champion Mines by the Blount County Memorial Museum. These miners recently held a reunion at the museum and reminisced about their hardships, antics, and camaraderie at the mine. Van Gunter then helped organize the Champion Miners Society, which asked the museum to prepare a reference book of collected materials from the miners. Amy Rhudy, museum curator, is asking these miners or their families to submit stories, which must be typed, not more than two pages, and include job titles and the years the miners began and ended work at the mines. Personal information should be included (next-door neighbors’ names, where they lived – Champion or Tait’s Gap, etc.). Stories must be submitted to the museum by Dec. 20 or in Word format by e-mail to bcmuseum71@

yahoo.com.
The museum reserves editorial rights. The book will include museum items and will be displayed at the museum.
