FRIENDS OF ONEONTA PUBLIC LIBRARY is planning a writers conference for April 20 at Twin Oaks at Heritage. Featured writers will be Robert McCammon, Patti Callahan Henry, and Keith Thomson. Tickets will be $50 each (tax deductible) and include heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, coffee, and cookies during the book signing following the program. Proceeds will be used for the summer reading program for children in Oneonta and Blount County.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION at Oneonta Elementary School will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, March 1, through Friday, March 19, according to principal Ed Parrish. To register, the student must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2010, and must bring a valid birth certificate, social security card, and an Alabama certificate of immunization. In addition, each student who lives within the city limits of Oneonta must bring two proofs of residence: a purchase, lease, or rental agreement and a utility bill showing the residential address.

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS second annual spring fashion show and luncheon will be Saturday, March 6, at 11:30 at World Outreach Center. Models will be your friends and your friends’ children.
