COVERED BRIDGES CLOSED All Blount County covered bridges will be closed for a short time this week to install surveillance cameras.

BLOUNTSVILLE HISTORICAL PARK Gaither Pottery will conduct a pottery class on Aug. 1 using Blount County clay. Cost is $10 and begins at 9 a.m. until the class decides to end. Crystal Kitchens will teach a class on making rag rugs using the Navajo knot method on Sept. 5. The class is $10 and begins at 9 a.m. Class space is limited. ONEONTA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION will have the third annual Holiday Decorating Contest this Christmas season. Entries must register by Nov. 20 and be decorated by Dec. 1 for judging. SUSAN MOORE FIRE DEPARTMENT will add a $5 per month donation to water bills beginning during the month of July to residents in the Susan Moore fire district serviced by Blount County Water Authority.

BLOUNT COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD is asking for a $40 donation from households in the county to help with operating expenses and the purchase of a rescue-one boat. SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM sponsored by the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama will be providing free meals to children 18 years and younger at no cost. Meals will be served at the Ratchford Child Development Center at 600 Jackson Avenue, Oneonta. Breakfast is served from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 am. until 12:30 p.m. and must be eaten on site.
