APPALACHIAN SCHOOL announces the following important dates: Monday, Aug. 7, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. is ‘meet the teacher’ for kindergarten through sixth grade. Students are required to bring proof of residence (current utility bill, lease agreement, deed, etc.) to register and new students must also bring proof of immunization ‘blue card’ and records from the previous school. Lockers/postage for high school students are $14 per year and a parking pass is $10.

CRISIS CENTER JUST A CALL AWAY 5K The third annual 5K and one-mile fun run will be Saturday, Aug. 19, in uptown Birmingham.
