ONEONTA PUBLIC LIBRARY Today at 10 a.m., the Friends of the Locust Fork River will lead a children’s program with river-related stories, songs, and activities.

The library is conducting a change drive to collect funds for J.B. Pennington’s library. The program is ‘Pennies for Pennington’ and the library encourages local businesses to participate also. Visit the library to donate or for promotional materials.

Hours are Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Visit for more information on library programs.

NARFE CHAPTER 942 will meet tomorrow, June 15, at Catfish Cabin, at 10 a.m. The speaker will be a representative from the Bradford Substance Abuse organization in Boaz, and the group is invited for a tour of the Albertville Airport at 1 p.m.

BLOUNT COUNTY CO-OP ANNUAL MEETING will be Thursday, June 22, at 6 p.m., at Charlie B’s restaurant.

PINE MOUNTAIN BBQ AND BLUEGRASS will be Saturday, June 24, at Pine Mountain Community Center. Music begins at noon through 7 p.m., with five groups performing. Barbecue chicken and Boston butt sandwiches and plates will be served beginning at 11 a.m. Adult and child plates are $7.50 and $5, a sandwich and drink is $4. COFFEE WITH A COP will be Tuesday, June 27, from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., at Main Street Coffee inside Miller Soda Shoppe. Parents, children, students, businesses, and church groups are invited to discuss citizen concerns, community needs by law enforcement, and learn about programs such as neighborhood crime watch.

BLOUNT COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK COMMITTEE will have a yard sale on Friday, July 14, and Saturday, July 15, from 7 a.m. until ?, at the Oneonta Worshp Center’s Family Life Center. The group is asking for donations and items can be taken to the Blount County Memorial Museum, or a committee member can pick up items. All proceeds benefit the Veterans Park project. ONEONTA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION The Classic Cruise-In will be Saturday, July 29, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The OBA, along with Pounder’s Seafood Restaurant and SwampTails Restaurant, presents the band 5ive O’clock Charlie with a live performance.
