J.B. PENNINGTON HIGH SCHOOL will have the 2017 Miss Felidae Pageant on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Reserved seat tickets are on sale for $6 and may be purchased at the school office. There will be a limited number of tickets available the day of the pageant.

The boys basketball team will host a Miss Felidae steak dinner in the lunchroom that day from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The $20 ticket includes a 10 oz. ribeye steak, baked potato, and all the fixings. CITY OF ONEONTA The regular council meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 16, at 5:30 p.m. A public hearing will be held at 5:15 p.m. prior to the meeting to discuss amending the business license ordinance to include taxi/vehicle for hire and fees and consider an amendment to the alcohol license for event licenses.

CULLMAN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER will host a heart disease seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 15, beginning at 11:30 a.m., in the Colonel Cullman room, Professional Office Building 2 at 1912 Ala 152, Cullman. J.B. PENNINGTON HIGH SCHOOL will have the top 10 banquet honoring academic achievement on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Academic awards will be given to grades 9-12 and Karron Standridge, Alabama Counselor of the Year, will be the guest speaker. The public is invited.

WALLACE STATE ADULT EDUCATION is now offering a program for those who didn’t complete their high school education. The nontraditional high school diploma is available to those who completed all necessary credits and received a Certificate of Attendance but failed a portion of the exit exam. HOMESCHOOLER’S ETIQUETTE CLASS will be held Tuesdays, Feb. 21 and 28, for grades 3-6 at the Blount County Memorial Museum, beginning at 10 a.m. The class will be taught by author Judi McGuire and the cost is $10, which includes three one-hour lectures and her new book, One Anothering: A Biblical Guide for Social Behavior. Deadline to register is Feb. 9.

BLOUNT COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT is accepting applications for a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Alabama Conservation District Employees Association.
