ONEONTA REC BASKETBALL will have registration Saturdays, Oct. 22 and 29, from 9 a.m. until noon for girls in grades 2-6, in the Oneonta High School lobby. The registration fee is $25 and if you have registered with the rec center, there is no need to register again.

HAYDEN COMMUNITY CENTER will host the band Pure Country at a free concert on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Bring a covered dish and enjoy country and gospel singing and dancing. Phone 514-2127 with questions.

CAR CARE FAIR will be Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., at H&S Garage, Inc., 10101 Ala 160, Hayden. The free vehicle check will be performed by a certified technician and there is no further obligation. There will be hotdogs, refreshments, and door prizes. The business pledges $10 from each oil and filter service performed that day and the following week to the Blount County Children’s Center. Donations to the children’s center will also be accepted.

STRAIGHT MOUNTAIN VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will have a chili supper and cake auction on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the Anchor, Highland Lake. The $7 plate includes all-you-can eat chili and fixings; children 12 and under $5. The cake auction will begin at 5 p.m. followed by awarding of door prizes.

BLOUNT COUNTY SANTA LIST for needy Blount County children will be available on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., at the Frank Green Building Auditorium.
