COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY EXERCISE CLASSES will be Friday, June 24, at 10 a.m., at the Frank Green Building auditorium. Exercises are approved by the American Arthritis Association. Phone Sonya at 625-6079 with questions.

PINE MOUNTAIN BBQ AND BLUEGRASS will be Saturday, June 25, at Pine Mountain Community Center. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. with chicken or Boston butt barbecue plates and sandwiches available for purchase. Music begins at noon and continues until 7 p.m., with seven groups performing. The center is located at 4481 Pine Mountain Road, Remlap.

GADSDEN PARKS AND REC will host walking tours of the Black Creek Trail system at Noccalula Falls on Saturday, June 25, at 9 a.m. The tour covers about 2.5 miles of walking and takes approximately 90 minutes. Bottled water is provided. Phone 256-543-7412 with questions.

BLOUNTSVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY The summer reading program is in progress now through June 24. Story time and activities begin at 10 a.m. each Friday in June. ONEONTA PUBLIC LIBRARY Will sponsor a women’s self defense class on Saturday, June 25, from 2:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.. The $15 deposit is refundable upon completion of the class. BLOUNTSVILLE HISTORICAL PARK ‘Sounds of Freedom’ will be Monday, July 4, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Rep. Randall Shedd will be the guest speaker and the program will end at 1 p.m. with the ringing of the bell 13 times, along with other Liberty Bells throughout the country. The event is held to remind citizens why we celebrate Independence Day. The park is open for weddings, receptions, showers, and meetings. Phone 429-2468 for vendor or event reservation information.

SUSAN MOORE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Blount County kids and teens can eat free this summer at the elementary school cafeteria Monday through Friday, until July 22. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. and lunch 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Kids and teens under age 18 eat free, adult meal cost is $2 for breakfast, $4 for lunch. The program is sponsored by the Alabama State Dept. of Education and the USDA.
