BLOUNT COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet today at 8:30 a.m.

ONEONTA PUBLIC LIBRARY will offer a class titled “E-reader Help” on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. The one-hour class will teach the basics of E-readers and how to check out books with the Overdrive system at the library. Phone the library at 274-7641 with questions.

‘HANSEL AND GRETEL’ DATE CHANGE The dates for the musical will be Feb. 23-24, 2013. The Community Arts Council of Blount County is sponsoring the musical and it will be performed at Oneonta High School. Stagehands, ballerinas, and teen or adult female singers are still needed. SNEAD STATE COMMUNITY CHOIR will perform excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah” in honor of former College Street Singer director Rebecca Lancaster, who served as music instructor from 1969 until 2002. The concert will be tomorrow, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in Fielder Auditorium. Admission is free.

WALLACE STATE HOSTS PHOTOGRAPHER LARRY CLOWDUS Wallace State Community College will exhibit the

photography of Blount County photographer Larry Clowdus at the Evelyn Burrow Museum through the end of the year. The exhibition consists of photographs from his book, Scenes from Nature. BLOUNT COUNTY MEMORIAL MUSEUM New displays include a rock collection from Brian and Brody Raymond of Pinson, personal items from the collection of Eddie “Country Boy Eddie” Burns, and a collection of Norman Rockwell items from Zeddie LaWayne Keith of Oneonta. Handmade covered bridge ornaments by Helen brown are for sale. The Moore Family of Susan Moore, Alabama books are available for $20 each, The people and places of Wynnville, Alabama is $10, and Champion Mine is $20. The Legend of Clover Hills Hidden Cave Dwellers, a children’s book written by David L. Faulkner, formerly of Blount County, is available for sale. Historical Society dues are renewable through January. Dues for 2013 are $10 per person. Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., phone 625-6905.

DOG FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED Crossing Paths Animal Rescue finds homes for hundreds of Blount County dogs every year. Dogs can be saved if there are foster homes to house them for a short time. Contact Mary Ellen at 559-7648 if you are interested in being foster parents to a homeless dog. All food and medical care is provided while the dog is in foster care.
