The Blountsville Town Council met Monday, Nov. 4. Among those present were Mayor Michael Glass and council members Dennis Beavers, Bob Cornelius, Kathy Irvin, and Ken Mullins. Council member Barry Smith was not in attendance.
On the agenda were just a few items to discuss during the meeting. The council decided not to participate in the severe weather tax holiday. They also agreed to come up with a counter offer regarding the lease with Amedisys Home Health of Alabama, LLC.
Also, they made announcement of the dates for police department new hires (Nov. 20) and police academy start dates (Jan. 13, 2020). The Street Cutting Ordinance Bond Fees will be discussed at a future town council meeting.
Among other items on the agenda, the council approved:
• resolution #2019-110401-01-R-Surplus for a dump truck.
• to continue to work on budget item concerning Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance premiums for employees for the calendar year.
• presentation of budget for fiscal year 2019/2020 for the general fund, which was discussed in a previous work session.
• $1,000 for the annual Christmas open house and parade festivities planned for Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.
The next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m.
