Murder suspect captured after bond revoked

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force has apprehended an Oneonta man who was free on bond awaiting trial for murder.

Tyler Reynolds, 24, was charged with reckless murder in the death of Melissa Gilbert, 20, Remlap, on Airport Road in June 2014.

An arrest warrant was issued for Reynolds after he failed to take court-ordered drug tests and failed to appear at a July 7 hearing in Blount County Circuit Court.

The warrant was forwarded to the U.S. Marshal Task Force and they located Reynolds Monday evening after interviews with his family, said Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey. He was taken into custody

“We have a great relationship with the U.S. Marshals and they have helped us locate wanted subjects several times,” said Casey.“The Blount County Sheriff’s Department also provided deputies to assist and it was a joint effort for which they should be commended.”
