A Blount County grand jury has returned a murder indictment against Megan Collins in the shooting death of Clint Myrick in November 2014.
Collins, 26, had been charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in the slaying but the grand jury added the murder charge last week. She was originally arrested in October on the original charges and had been freed on $20,000 bond.
Myrick, 28, was shot to death at a home on Kelsoe Road in Susan Moore in the early morning hours. Police had received a report of a burglary at the home where Myrick was shot, allegedly after he had returned with a baseball bat after Collins had put him out of the house. She reportedly fired a warning shot with a shotgun before firing again and striking Myrick in the upper body.
The autopsy report the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (DFS) was returned to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey in October and she moved forward with the upgraded charge of murder against Collins.
Collins was re-arrested Monday on the murder charge and was released later after posting $75,000 bond.
