Moore to Auburn, Devaney to Wallace State
Two Oneonta high school seniors signed baseball scholarships last week. Brody Moore signed with Auburn University while Jackson Devaney signed with Wallace State. Moore, a two-time all state selection, hit .426 as a junior with nine doubles, a triple and 16 RBIs with 20 runs scored and was nine-for-nine on stolen base attempts. At shortstop, he committed just two errors in 140 chances. Although he signed as an infielder, he was the ace of the Redskin pitching staff with a 6-2 record and a 1.26 ERA.
Devaney, who signed as a catcher, hit .387 as a junior with two home runs, 11 doubles, 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He was five-of-five on stolen base attempts and did not commit an error at catcher. The two combined to help lead the Redskins to an 18-11 record and an appearance in the 4A playoffs. They were also key members of Oneonta’s 2016 team that finished as the 4A runner-up. Last week’s numbers for the pair were actually from their sophomore season.
