Midsummer Night’s Run (and Fun)

Fireworks capped off the night of Hometown Bank’s Midsummer Night’s Run Saturday. The annual event, which featured a 5K and a 1-mile fun run, was moved to the evening and the cooler temperatures brought out hundreds of runners and others that just wanted to have some fun. There was plenty of food and music and all proceeds went to a great cause – the children of Blount County – through the Blount County Education Foundation and the Oneonta Foundation For Educational Resources. Chase Buckelew of Arab was the overall winner and the first-place finisher on the men’s side, followed by Jabe McCoy of Hayden and Riley Slone of Oneonta. Vicky McAdams of Warrior won the women’s event, followed by Lisa Rutledge and Lauren Cornelius, both of Oneonta. –Rob Rice
