A 67-year-old man from Highland Lake was arrested last Friday afternoon at the Blount County Courthouse following an incident in which he became loud and argumentative with clerical personnel while attempting to renew his car tag. Sheriff’s Deputy Lonnie Staton attempted to calm the man, but he remained loud and disorderly, according to authorities.
Staton arrested the man at that time. He was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the courthouse incident, and later with promoting prison contraband second degree, after being taken to jail.
He was later released on bond.
