‘Make a difference in the life of a child in need’

As a business or individual in Blount County and surrounding areas, you have the opportunity to give back to your community in a number of ways. One would be to help the nearly 100 children of Blount County who are in foster care after being removed from their families due to situations beyond their control.

These children are placed with foster families who are responsible for meeting their basic daily needs. Although these families receive stipends to help with the children’s needs, it is not always sufficient to cover extra items such as car seats, required school supplies, extra beds, school pictures, sports fees, field trips, etc. The foster parents cover many costs to enable these children to lead somewhat normal lives.

The Blount County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association (BCFPA) is taking donations to help cover some of these expenses. Donations are tax deductible and can be sent to Superior Bank of Cleveland, 18045 State Hwy 160, Cleveland 35049, or to BCFPA president Joyce Box, 295 Water Tank Road, Hayden 35079. These donations will be used to assist directly the children in Blount County.

If you could assist in raising money for this cause, the group would greatly appreciate it. The group has an EIN number and will send it to you in a letter listing your contribution amount so it will be tax deductible. Those who want to set up monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual donations may call me at 363- 0598. Reminders of donation due dates can be sent.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Take this chance to make a difference in the life of a child in need. For questions, please contact me at 363-0598.

In addition, Blount County often has classes to get new foster parents licensed and approved. If you are interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent, contact the Department of Human Resources at 274-5200.
