Locust Fork High

dedicates blended classroom

Last week, representatives from Blount County schools and Birmingham- Southern College (BSC) visited Locust Fork High School for the Birmingham- Southern Blended Learning Classroom dedication. In November 2013, BSC contacted the Blount County Education Foundation concerning the possibility of a collaborative project for technology and mentoring between BSC and a Blount County High School. Each high school submitted applications to the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, which funded the project, and Locust Fork was chosen. The school received a $60,000 grant for the project. The classroom is meant to increase high school graduation rates through the use of technology, and Locust Fork’s application centered on providing that opportunity to every student and teacher through a team approach where the classroom could be opened to everyone on a daily basis. – Nicole Singleton
