The Locust Fork Hornets spotted visiting Douglas an early 7-0 lead before scoring 42 unanswered points in a 42-22 victory over the visiting Eagles at homecoming last Friday night.
The Hornets turned the ball over early and often and Douglas took advantage for a quick 7-0 lead.
Once the Hornets started taking care of the ball, the visiting Eagles had no chance.
The Locust Fork offensive line began to hammer the Douglas defensive front and sophomore running back Micah Stephens took full advantage. Stephens had touchdown runs of 12, 30, 49, and 78 yards as the Hornets built a halftime lead of 36-7.
Locust Fork also got a 7-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Hornbuckle to Brandon Rylant in the first half and a 38-yard touchdown run by Shiloh Biles for their only score of the second half.
The Hornets rushed for 383 yards and finished the night with 419 total yards while Douglas managed 221 yards of offense.
Stephens finished the night with nine carries for 203 yards and four touchdowns while Biles added 76 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts.
Hornbuckle completed 2 of 6 passing for 36 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Rylant had both receptions for the Hornets.
Isaiah Kirkley led the Locust Fork defense with seven tackles while Shiloh Biles and Chase Biles each had six stops. Shiloh Biles had 1.5 tackles for loss. Josh Tawbush had a fumble recovery and Joey Robinette had an interception.
Locust Fork (5-2 overall, 3-2 in 4A Region 6) travels to Guntersville this week.
