Locust Fork High School assistant principal Tim Clevenger was arrested last week and charged with videotaping a nude 14-year-old girl as she prepared to take a shower.
He was booked into the Blount County Correctional Facility at 12:39 a.m. last Thursday on charges of production of obscene matter, criminal surveillance, and possession of obscene matter.
He was released later that day after posting a $118,000 bond – $100,000 for production of obscene matter, $15,000 for possession of obscene matter, and $3,000 for criminal surveillance.
According to Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey, his bond conditions state that he is not allowed to be on any school campus or attend any extracurricular activity and he is prohibited from having any contact with students or anyone under the age of 18.
The video was apparently taken at his home in December 2013 as he stood outside and recorded through the blinds. The girl was not aware of the taping.
The video was found on a system computer that was undergoing routine maintenance by IT personnel.
Blount County Superintendent Jim Carr learned of the video Tuesday evening and met with Clevenger on Wednesday and placed him on paid administrative leave.
“We hate to have to deal with issues like this,” said Carr. “Obviously, they are very troubling and these situations are just very frustrating and disappointing.”
Clevenger, 48, is a 1984 graduate of Locust Fork and has worked in the Blount County system for 18 years. He has been assistant principal of the high school since 2004 and was also principal of Susan Moore High School for four years before coming to Locust Fork.
Casey said her office was notified about the video around noon Wednesday and their investigation led to the arrest.
“The victim was completely unaware and she in no way participated in the situation,” she said.
“My heart is broken for the victim and for Locust Fork School. There are many wonderful teachers, staff, and faculty at the school that I work with regularly. I hate to see this reflect on them and the work they do for our children.
“Let me be clear. Our most precious resource is our children. We will prosecute those who harm them or attempt to harm them. Period.”
