ONEONTA FIRE HYDRANT TESTING The Oneonta Fire Department will be conducting hydrant testing through Friday, Nov. 1, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Residents might notice a slight discoloration in the water, but testing in no way affects the safety or taste of the drinking water. BLOUNT COUNTY MEMORIAL MUSEUM and the Blount County Quilters Guild are selling tickets for a handmade quilt to be given away at the annual Quilt Show at Palisades Park during the Blount County Covered Bridge Festival. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six. Books on sale at the museum include The Community of Village Springs, $7; Champion Mines, $15; and The Moore Family of Susan Moore, $15. FILLING STATION 56 is a soup kitchen now open in Blountsville at 69042 Main Street (at the red light) and offers a free meal every Saturday at 5 p.m. The group is a non-profit organization, health department approved, and accepts donations and volunteers to work. Questions? Phone 353-5955.
