JIMMY DOYLE GLASS, 86, Attalla, better known to friends and family as “Buss,” passed away Jan. 4, 2021, at TLC Nursing Center. Born and raised in Blount County, he later moved to Etowah County. Mr. Glass worked many years as a backhoe operator before retiring. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was a longtime member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Glass is preceded in death by his wife Maudine Glass; parents William Austin and Luvenia Lee Glass; grandson Justin Glass; great-grandchildren Haiden Glass and Taliyah Rooks; and brothers Cecil Glass, Donnie Glass, William “Cart” Glass, and Herbert Glass.
He is survived by son Roger (Vickie) Glass of Boaz; daughters Sherry (Dale) Cannon of Gadsden and Janet (John) Frith of Oneonta; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers Roy Dale Glass and Junior Glass, both of Oneonta; sisters Bettye Isom and Billie Reynolds of Arab.
Mr. Glass spent the last eight years of his life at TLC Nursing Center where he formed many friendships with other residents and staff including special friends Darell Faulkner, John Mitchell, and Thomas Parrish. On behalf of the Glass family, we would like to thank all the staff for the kindness, loving care, and friendships so freely given to him these past eight years.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 9, at noon, at Dailey’s Chapel Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers were Joseph Cannon, Elliot Glass, James Glass, David Frith, Brady Mullinax, Kaden Frith, Tre Rooks, and Trenton Rooks. Lemley Funeral Home directed.
