JAMES MACK GIBBS, 67, Summerdale, died Dec. 18, 2018, at the residence. Born Dec. 27, 1950, in Cleveland, he graduated from Gardendale High School in 1969 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 through 1974. He graduated from Texas State University with a degree in agri-business and was a small business owner who reflected an entrepreneurial spirit with an emphasis on helping others achieve their financial goals. He dedicated his life to helping and serving others. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, but above all else he was a lifelong follower of his redeemer, Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill and served as a lay pastor and prayer leader in his congregation. Predeceasing him were parents Lucy Victoria Faust Gibbs and James Ellis Gibbs. Surviving are wife Linda Hinsley Gibbs; sons Jeremy (Julia) Gibbs, Coral Springs, Fla, James Brandon (Jana) Gibbs, Morristown, Tenn., James Austin Gibbs, Summerdale; sister Jamie Lou Palmer, Morro Bay, Calif.; brother Turner Gibbs, Florence, David Gibbs, San Antonio, Tex.; five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Silverhill. Burial was at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley. Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes and Crematory directed.
