62, Oneonta, died May 24, 2012, at the residence. Husband to Anita Dale Mathus Elrod, he was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he had worked for 27 years, and served in the U.S. Navy. Father Clarence Elrod predeceased him.

Surving besides his wife are mother Claudia Rich, Sylvan Springs; sons Chris ( Jennifer) Elrod, Corner, Jason Elrod, Graysville, Kyle Elrod, Sumiton; daughters Cassie (Deland) Rose, Oneonta, Elaine ( Jay) Church, Trussville; five grandchildren; brothers Michael (Vickie) Elrod, Tommy Elrod, both of Sylvan Springs, Jeffrey (Kim) Elrod, Pleasant Grove; sister Tracey (Wayne) Treadwell, Pell City.

Roger Robertson and James Stem officiated the 2 p.m. service held at Lemley Funeral Home Chapel on May 27. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery with Tony Keener, Joseph Rinehuls, Austin Church, Jay Church, Alan Rose, and Andy Elrod serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Reynolds and Larry Eller.
