It’s what girl scouts do

Junior girl scouts display the several dozen books, puzzles, and stuffed animals they collected for Blount County Children’s Center’s H.U.G.S. (Helping U Get Started) program. It was part of their work toward their bronze awards. Also helping the girls of Oneonta #483 earn their community service hours were planning and putting on a Valentine party for H.U.G.S.’s little preschoolers. Their leader, P.J. Bicknell, said the scouts chose Reading and Literacy as their project, conducting every step of the project on their own from the initial contact with the children center’s Linda Godwin to the book presentation. “They were all very valuable experiences for the girls,” she said.
