Investigation leads to chop shop

A drug investigation has led to the arrest of three men in what Blount County Sheriff ’s Department investigators have labeled an extensive and well-organized operation that dealt in narcotics trafficking and stolen vehicles.

A search warrant on a chop shop in the Hayden area resulted in the arrest of the three men and the seizure of two Harley Davidson motorcycles, a tractor trailer, an ATV (all-terrain vehicle), and stolen automobile parts.

Authorities believe the parts and vehicles were stolen from several different areas in Alabama and Georgia.

While arrests have been made, the investigation is continuing. Some of the stolen items seized during the search of the property have yet to be identified.

The three arrested – two males and a female – are being held on bond in the Blount County Correctional Facility. Each is facing five counts of receiving stolen property, one count of operating a chop shop, and various misdemeanor drug charges.

The Warrior Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) assisted in the case.
