No formal charges have been filed after a 65-year-old-man shot an intruder in the Wynnville area around noon on Sunday, according to Capt. Pat Thomas of the Blount County Sheriff’s Department. Thomas says the man came through the backdoor of the 65-year-old’s double-wide mobile home on Wilson’s Chapel Road and the resident shot him with a small handgun.
Both individuals were transported to the hospital, but the 65-year-old had injuries unrelated to the shootings.
The shooting victim is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery, according to Thomas, and might not be able to speak to investigators for a few days.
The incident remains under investigation.
