Hugh Brown Moore

HUGH BROWN MOORE passed away Jan. 1, 2022. Born Aug. 17, 1943, he was preceded in death by his parents Esther McCay Moore and Hugh Moore, brother Vernon “Sad” Moore, and his beloved son Scott, who was always in his heart and soul.

Brown graduated from Locust Fork High School in 1961. He married his high school sweetheart Kay Reid, and they were looking forward to celebrating their 58th anniversary in March.

Brown had a long career at the railroad. Afterwards he and Kay worked their cattle and poultry farm side by side for years. He could always be found on his tractor working their farm along with his side kick, Wadious.

He was loved and adored and will be greatly missed by his daughter Lisa (Kenny); granddaughter Samantha (Brandon); great-grandchildren Bran and Lynleigh. They brought him great pride, joy, and love. He spoke of them often with love and admiration.

Brown attended and loved Pine Bluff Baptist Church and knew his Lord and Savior. He always wore a big smile and had a kind word and helping hand for everyone. Brown was a man’s man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, brother, neighbor, and friend. He enjoyed being a Mason at the Locust Fork Lodge for many years.

Viewing was 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Lemley Chapel in Oneonta. Funeral was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, with Bro. Daryl Holt presiding. The family also had a viewing from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Bluff Baptist Church, Locust Fork. Asked to serve as pallbearers were Billy McCay, Perry Glasscock, Jonathan Powell, Junior Yaw, Chip Yaw, and Brandon Smith. Services were under the care of Lemley Chapel and Greg Long.
