Hope House offers youth empowerment, stop smoking classes

Hope House Inc. announced this week it will offer two series of classes beginning in March.

Youth Empowerment

The Youth Empowerment class series is for Blount County young people ages 13 to 18 and their families. The class is offered Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for 12 weeks, beginning Mar. 3. Topics covered include anger management, assertiveness, money management, time management, decision making, goal setting, communication skills, career planning, AIDS education, and family relationship building activities. Stop Smoking Class

More than 400,000 people die each year from cigarette smoking, which is more than die every year from AIDS, alcohol, cocaine, heroin, suicide, car crashes, and fires combined, according to information provided by Hope House. The agency will offer a stop smoking class every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., beginning on March 10. The class is for interested Blount County residents. Free nicotine stop-smoking aids are available for class participants. Call Maria Brindle at 625- 4673 for more information or to enroll.
