Homer Estes Wilson



HOMER ESTES WILSON, 81, Warrior, died April 30, 2015, at the residence. Devoted to the working class, he became District 9 director of United Steel Workers of America, was a member of the Democratic Party and the Lions Club, and helped establish the Blount County Animal Shelter. He enjoyed the outdoors and riding around his farm. Predeceasing him were parents Fred Estes and Zery Ozell Wilson and brothers William Wilson and Corbert Dean Wilson.

Surviving are wife Dinah Mae King Wilson; sons Johnny Albert (Vickie) Wilson, James-Royce Houston (Ada) Wilson, Elton James (Rhonda) Barks Jr.; daughters Susan Marie Wilson, Linda Dunn Foshee; grandchildren Ryan Wilson, April Dawn Wilson Crowley, Joshua Lee Barks, Brittney Nicole Barks, Scott Ryans, Heather (Darrell) Touchton; greatgrandchildren Madison Rae Crowley, Bailey Marie Crowley, Knox Wilson, Grace Isabell Wilson, Kaylee Touchton, Brandon Touchton; brother Robert Wilson; sisters Effie Ann Burd, Joyce Key.

A memorial was held May 3 at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services and burial will be held in Lakeland, Fla. Donations may be made in his memory to USW District 9 Education Fund/Homer Wilson Scholarship, P.O. Box 1105, Gardendale, AL 35071.
