Consider the price of success – another parking problem. Through the first semester of Wallace State’s occupancy of its new Academic Center, the average daily parking load averaged about 15 to 20 vehicles. On Monday morning this week, the first day of the fall semester, the building parking lot was fairly full with about 20 cars and several trucks. Then, Monday evening about 5 p.m. came the lollapalooza: 60-plus vehicles filling the building parking lot, the entire length of the street along the side of the building, and more than 50 yards down the unpaved extension of First Avenue toward B Street.
Another way to look at it? It’s a good problem to have – one of the first visible outbursts of higher education in Blount County.
