Hofstalar remembered

The Josiah Brunson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Birmingham Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will host a ceremony honoring Revolutionary War veteran George Hofstalar (Huffstutler) by placing a memorial marker at his grave on Saturday, June 24, at 11 a.m. The grave is at White’s Cemetery, located between Trafford and Locust Fork.

According to local history and U.S. military records, Hofstalar fought in the Battle of Briar Creek and Kings Mountain and served as a private in the North Carolina militia infantry and cavaly during 1778-1780. He moved to the Little Shenandoah area after the war, where many of his descendants live today.
