The high school baseball regular season has ended and five Blount County teams have made the playoffs.

Appalachian, Cleveland, and Oneonta all won their areas and will host firstround series this weekend while J.B. Pennington and Susan Moore finished as area runners-up and will be on the road for the first round.

Appalachian, the 1A Area 9 champion, will host Area 10 runner-up Berry Friday in a rematch of a 2009 first-round series that was won by Berry 15-0 and 8-6. Game times are noon and 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., if needed.

Cleveland (16-16), the 2A Area 13 champion, will get a visit from Hatton (19-15), the Area 14 runner-up in a firstround series that features two teams that have become regular playoff participants. Game times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m., if needed.

Oneonta (18-2), the 4A Area 10 champion, will host Area 9 runner-up Lincoln (10-15). Oneonta is a traditional playoff team but the Redskins were blown out of the first round (14-0, 10-0) last year by Area 9 runner-up Saks. Game times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday, if needed.

J.B. Pennington (13-9), the runner-up to Vinemont in 3A Area 12, will travel to Carbon Hill (10-15), the surprise winner of Area 11. Game times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday, if needed.

Finally, Susan Moore (8-12), the 3A Area 13 runner-up, gets a first-round rematch with Area 14 champion Sylvania. The Rams knocked the Bulldogs out of last year’s playoffs with wins of 15-7 and 8-5. Game times are 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday, if needed.

Admission for each series is $8 for the Friday doubleheader and $6 for the single game on Saturday. Second round
