The Blount County Memorial Museum is once again a collection point for toys that will be distributed to children in the county by the Blount County office of the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
Pine Grove Baptist Church’s youth group is also pitching in to collect toys for the drive. The Rosa church’s seventh through ninth graders volunteered to make Christmas a little brighter for children who otherwise might not receive a gift, according to Traci Long who is one of the church’s assistant youth directors along with Scooter Long, Brandie Little, and Michael Gunter.
The last day to drop off unwrapped presents at the museum is Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Curator Amy Rhudy said the museum has items for sale that would make great Christmas gifts. One is The Heritage of Blount County, Bicentennial Edition, which is currently reduced to $65. Other gifts are the Blount County bicentennial and covered bridge ornaments, covered bridge coffee mugs and magnets, and prints of Blount County by Helen Brown.
