Hayden man sentenced for sexual abuse

Samuel Preston Windham, of Hayden, was sentenced last week by Circuit Judge Steven King to nine years in prison on each of four counts of sexual abuse and 30 days for a charge of unlawful imprisonment.

Windham was found guilty in March by a Blount County jury on four counts of firstdegree sexual abuse and a second-degree charge of false imprisonment. Windham was charged with subjecting his victim, who was under 16 at the time, to sexual contact by forcible compulsion.

Judge King’s sentence is nine years for each count with the sentences to run concurrently.

“The scars caused by sexual abuse will never heal,” said District Attorney Pamela Casey.“The victim is always sentenced to a lifetime of pain. No amount of prison time will ever erase the memories Windham caused his victim.”
