HAROLD WAYNE FREEMAN, 79, Fort Payne, died Feb. 5, 2021. Born Jan. 8, 1942, he graduated from Fort Payne High School and The University of Alabama where he was an All-American lineman and member of the 1964 National Championship team. Predeceasing him were parents Leonard and Iris Freeman and siblings Benny Freeman, Steve Freeman, Linda Spivey.
Surviving are wife of 30 years Glenda Freeman; Glenda’s daughters Angela Glasscox and Lisa Street, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; his children Aaron Freeman, Laura Knight, Janice Burrows, and Tara Helms; mother of his children Elaine Freeman; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Feb. 13, at 2 p.m., at Burt Funeral Home, Fort Payne. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Crimson Tide Foundation, Box 870343, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487, or www.crimsontidefoundation.org/freeman.
