HANDS-ON PATRIOTISM

This past weekend, a handmade American flag and eight banners were hung from the Blount County Board of Education roof during the Veterans Day parade. The flag was made last year during Hayden High School’s Veterans Day program, according to Hayden High counselor Karron Standridge. Each part of the flag was made with faculty, staff, and student hand prints. The red and white hand prints from the students, and the blue hand prints from the faculty and staff. In addition, this year, the school made eight banners (only three of those are pictured) with each star representing a Blount County resident who lost their life in war. – Nicole Singleton
