Guest Behind the Barbed Wire

the Barbed Wire

Ruth Beaumond Cook, author of “Guest Behind the Barbed Wire,” will speak Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m., at Cleveland Baptist Church about her book.

Her work chronicles the building and operation of the largest German POW camp in the United States during World War II. More than 6000 German soldiers were held in this camp, located in Aliceville. Some prisoners were sent to satellite camps, where they worked in the surrounding communities. Some remember when one of these camps was located in this county.

Admission is free, and the public is invited to hear Cook speak. After her talk, she will sell and sign copies of her book.
