Gourds galore

Phillip ‘Red’ Mulkey proudly displays his bountiful fall harvest – sweet potatoes, gourds, and pumpkins. The sweet potatoes, a result of 25 plants, produced a bumper crop with many weighing in at over 4 pounds each. The gourds were truly a spectacular sight, ranging in color from green to bright yellow, orange, and white, and all shapes and sizes. Remnants can still be found on the ground in the patches behind their Susan Moore home.

Red and his wife Deb’s green thumbs are obvious throughout the spring and summer as well and their garden is the envy of the neighborhood. Stop by and say hello–the Mulkeys will gladly share with friends and neighbors.
