Going Yard Sports opens in Hayden

Katie Pate and Haley Rawls took some hitting practice with coach/owner Stacy Rawls during the grand opening of Going Yard Sports on Saturday. The new indoor baseball/softball complex in Hayden offers three hitting stations, four batting cages, three pitching lanes, a pro shop, and an outdoor regulation softball field with a 190- foot fence. The building also has a second floor overlook with a wall of windows so parents can either watch TV, play games, or observe their child’s lesson on the first floor. Rawls is no stranger to baseball and softball lessons and neither are his business partners, wife Alyce, and hitting instructor, Bill Martin. They already have 115 lessons each week and will now offer more memberships to the public. Prices start at $45 for one month and yearly memberships are $300. Lessons, private or with a buddy, include hitting, pitching, catching, speed and agility, or a combination. Visit the facility’s website for more pricing information. Scheduling and reservations can be made through Facebook or by contacting a Going Yard Sports staff member. For more information, visit www.goingyardsports.com, call 205-647-9273, or like their Facebook page. – Nicole Singleton
