Gerald Franklin Bass

GERALD FRANKLIN BASS, 82, Oneonta, died Nov. 18, 2017. He was retired from the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam and Korea as a paratrooper and a Green Beret. He later became a plumber and worked as a chef in several restaurants before opening his own business. He enjoyed going to flea markets, camping with his wife, Alabama football, and eating out with friends. Predeceasing him were parents Zabe and Flora Bass, wife Myra Lee Bass, son Reginald Bass, and brothers Jimmy Bass, Terry Bass, and Roger Bass.

Surviving are sons Jeff Bass, Trussville, Kerry Bass, Oneonta; daughter Deanna Battles, Oneonta; grandchildren Adam (Cherie) Battles, Hanna (Virgil) Turner, Jeremy (Amy) Bass, Jason (Laney) Bass, Joseph Bass, Jennifer Bass; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister Sue Bass, Georgia.

Earl Harper officiated the 11 a.m. service held Nov. 20 at Lemley Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Macedonia Cemetery.
