Sheriff has busy weekend, nabs six

Sheriff Miller and his force were very busy over the weekend. Four bootleggers were caught in various parts of the county consisting of two women and two men. A poker game at Summitt was raided which netted two men.

Oki Shikina, the Japanese star will make his first appearance in Altoona Friday night against Frankie James. Shikina is a nerve hold specialist who puts his opponents to sleep with a secret nerve hold back of the neck. He will put any spectator to sleep who volunteers to come in the ring for a demonstration. The bout starts at 7:45 p.m.

Now that peplums and tiers and flounces and overskirt effects are in fashion, designers are enhancing them with edgings of either black or white lace. Removable, very sheer lace guimpes are sold at the neckwear counters.

Members of the Blount County High School faculty were guests on a delightful cruise in Birmingham’s luxury cabin boat on Blackburn Lake. The ride was a return trip from the dam to the landing at the head of the lake. Refreshments were served at the landing and the occasion was one long to be remembered by the teachers.
