Groundbreaking for Blount Memorial Museum

Officials met for the ceremony held recently. Construction is going forward under the direction of Evin Hullett. Eight thousand bricks from Howard College were donated by Dr. James L. Wittmeier. County prisoners stacked the bricks in order on the lot. Miss Amilea Porter is president of the historical society and chair of the museum building comittee.

If one is going on an extended vacation this month, a neighbor should be asked to look after the harvest in the garden. If crops like okra, cucumbers, etc., aren’t harvested regularly, they will quit bearing.

Sheriff J.C. Carr reported 16 arrests during the last week: 12 for driving while intoxicated or public drunkenness; one for assault with a deadly weapon; one for issuing worthless check, one for manslaughter, one for assault. He reminds the public that prisoners are allowed visitors only on Saturdays.
