Logan home razed by fire Sunday

The home of O.B. Logan, Sr., retired mail carrier, was destroyed by fire Sunday morning about 10:30.

The origin of the fire is unknown. Sunday School had dismissed at the Remlap United Methodist Church when the fire was discovered and the people aided in getting much of the household furniture out of the building. However, they were unable to clear the furnishings in one room and some other articles.

It is understood that the loss is partially covered by insurance.

Oneonta little leaguers win berth in eighth district play-off in Albertville

Oneonta Little Leaguers will be represented in the Eighth District Play-off which will be staged at Albertville on Thursday night, July 20, according to Xemon Hill, president of the Oneonta Little League.

Oneonta has four Little League teams and the tournament team is picked from boys between eleven and twelve years old from the players of all the little leagues.

The Oneonta boys will be under the management of Rufus Sirmon and Louis Fortenberry.

The boys composing the team to represent Oneonta are made up of the following: Tommy Reeves, Ronnie Bailey, Ken Hill, Lonnie Adamson, Ricky Ray, Johnny Watkins, Tommy Dickey, Jimmie Carr, Larry Deerman, Danny Bentley, Jimmie Harrelson, Jerry Tidwell, Dale Underwood.

A good crowd of local fans are expected to accompany the team to Albertville.

Sheriff to destroy confiscated liquors

Sheriff Alex Stevenson says he will destroy the all illicit whiskey and beer in his possession Friday morning, July 21, at 9:00 o’clock.

Sheriff Stevenson says the pour-out will be held at the court house and anyone interested is invited to be there.
