Poultry plant bids to be opened

Bids for the construction of Oneonta Poultry Processing Plant will be publicly opened by the City Council of Oneonta at 10:00 a.m. on March 25 at the mayor’s office in the City Hall here, according to Mayor J.W. Russum.

Immediately after the opening of the bids, City of Oneonta industrial development revenue bonds will be available for delivery.

Mr. and Mrs. H.K. Majure sold ten acres to the city of Oneonta February 25 for the the site of the proposed poultry processing plant. Present as Mayor Russum presented the $10,000 check to the Majures were E.L. Moore and Mrs. Gilford Chaffin, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce.

To face the proposed highway between Oneonta and Birmingham, the property lies between the Majure residence and Oneonta Wholesale Grocery, west of Alabama highway 75.

James withdraws from Senate Race

Having been state senator from the 3rd Senatorial District twice, and after due and deliberate consideration, Wm. E. (Bill) James states that he is withdrawing as a candidate for that office this time.

He takes this method of thanking his many friends in the district for their support and owes them his undying gratitude for their friendship.
